RuhulA

This is an old guide, but posting it since I couldn’t find it here, and with LOTRO going f2p, will be useful to a lot of new players…

Don’t just level your character; level your weapon! We tell you how to get that first Legendary Weapon and get cracking on entering Moria, which requires that you complete Volumes 2, Book 1.

The Best Way of Doing It

I am a little guilt ridden about telling you to sort of skip things then go back, particularly since one of the great parts of an expansion is all the new virgin territory to explore at your own pace. You will want to get into Moria eventually though, and there are a few things you may as well set in motion in the meantime. This coincides with getting your Legendary Weapon.

New Places to See

Eregion is south of Rivendell and the Trollshaws. You can reach the new area through Tal Bruinen or Giant Valley. Eregion has 4 settlements: Gwingris and Mirobel in the North and South West, respectively; Echad Eregion, just West of the map’s center; and East and slightly South of Echad Eregion is Echad Dunann. Just East of there is a gate where you can talk to a dwarf called Rathwald and start Volume 2 of the Epic Books (you did already do the Prologue in Rivendell right? It’s been out since Book 14).

As you work through these rather short and entirely soloable quests, you will be offered Expedition Quests. These will be booted from your quest log upon completion of Chapter 8 of the main path, so you have to do them first if you want to do them at all. The loot isn’t that great, but remember, you’re getting XP again now. More importantly, completing all of the Expedition Quests, and they aren’t hard or out of the way or requiring a Fellowship or such, unlocks a special session play instance: The Fall of Moria. I don’t want to ruin any surprises, but you meet some A-List Middle-Earth VIPs, and the graphics in there alone are worth seeing. Continue reading »

The Minstrel is the undisputed Master of Middle Earth multimedia. But we mean old school media: we’ll tell you how to use your Songs, Ballads, Musical Instruments, and more to heal friends and hurt foes, without running out of Power Points before your presentation is done.

Solo? No!

Let’s get the bad news out of the way: the minstrel is not a good solo class, likely the worst in all of LOTRO. Limited armor and dps mean that fights are lengthy and require you to self-heal. This isn’t only tedious, but also gives plenty of time for adds to show up and ruin your day.

The flip side of this is that finding a group as a Minstrel is pretty easy. As in most MMOs, members of the main healing class are in high demand. If you would rather be playing in a group than solo anyways, the Minstrel is a great choice. If on the other hand, you prefer soloing, then a Minstrel should not be your choice. Continue reading »

Easily gain 3000 experience per 30 second pull, dual farming in Icecrown, with a low level alt or friend. Use this method to AOE farm and level by dualboxing or with a friend. It was tested on a level 56 alt, in Icecrown, using a simple method to achieve high amounts of xp.

In order for this to work, you must have the RAF 2 seater flying rocket mount.  You do not need to be in a RAF group – in won’t even help, unless the RAF is within 5 levels anyways.

Near the top right corner of the Chaos Wastes map, there is a mob named “Templar Armand” standing under a tree. He will instantly respawn, right after you kill him. Perfect for macroing/botting. Note that while there are other mobs nearby they will not aggro, nor pull when you attack Templar Armand.
