In World of Warcraft, the Alchemy profession enables players to create potions, elixirs, oil, flasks, and cauldrons from various herbs and reagents. Items produced from Alchemy have a variety of effects, ranging from healing to elemental resistance and more.
Given that Alchemy uses a lot of herbs, it’s recommended that aspiring Alchemists take up Herbalism as a secondary profession. This makes it easier to obtain herbs on your own as opposed to having to purchase them for WoW Gold from other players.
Proficiency
As with all professions, Alchemy has six proficiency levels, which are listed in the table below. As you increase your character’s level and your Alchemy skill level, you can increase your Alchemy Proficiency by visiting an Alchemy Trainer. While any Alchemy Trainer in Azeroth can teach you Apprentice to Artisan Alchemy, you can only learn Master Alchemy in Outland or Northrend, and Grand Master Alchemy in Northrend.
Training costs WoW Gold, and the prices differ depending on whether you chose Alchemy as your Primary or Secondary profession.

Mixology
At skill level 50, Alchemists acquire the passive ability, Mixology. This ability doubles the duration of any flask or elixir that the Alchemist created and consumed himself/herself. It also increases the effect of the flask/elixir slightly, and this increase varies per item.
Leveling Alchemy
The first thing you need to do is to visit an Alchemy Trainer in one of Azeroth’s main cities to learn Apprentice Alchemy. This section contains a table that shows you which items to create to level up your Proficiency in the fastest, most efficient manner.
Most of the recipes for the items listed below can be learned from Alchemy Trainers, but a few have to be obtained elsewhere.
If you haven’t opted to take up Herbalism as a secondary profession or if you’re just not feeling up to looking for reagents, you may want to buy WoW Gold so that you can purchase them from other players.

Alchemy Specialization
Taking a Specialization in Alchemy will give you a chance to create 1-4 extra items while crafting a specific item of the specialization’s type. For example, an Alchemist specialized in Elixirs may be able to create more than one Elixir of Mighty Agility for the same cost as making one.
There are three available specializations to choose from: Potions, Elixirs, or Transmutations. To choose your first specialization, you will have to undergo a quest. See the table below for quest details.
|
Specialization |
Trainer |
Required Items |
|
Master of Potions |
Lauranna Thar’well (Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh) |
Botanist’s Field Guide (dropped by High Botanist Freywinn in The Botanica in Tempest Keep) 5 Super Healing Potion 5 Super Mana Potion 5 Major Dreamless Sleep Potion |
|
Master of Elixirs |
Lorokeem (Shattrath City) |
10 Essence of Infinity (dropped by Rift Lords and Rift Keepers at The Black Morass in the Caverns of Time) 5 Elixir of Major Defense 5 Elixir of Mastery 5 Elixir of Major Agility |
|
Master of Transmutation |
Zarehvi (Stormspire, Netherstorm) |
4 Primal Might |
If you want to change your specialization, you’ll have to unlearn your current specialization for a fee of 150 WoW Gold, and then select your new specialization. Note that you will not have to do the above quests again when you choose a new specialization.
Now that you know the most efficient way to level up your Alchemy skill, you’ll get up to 450 in no time. By then you’ll be able to supply your raid party or guild with lots of beneficial potions an elixirs to take with them into battle, and sell the extras for WoW Gold!
