In World of Warcraft, the Leatherworking profession enables players to forge various weapons, armor, and other items using metals, minerals, and other materials.
It’s recommended that aspiring Leatherworkers take up Skinning as a secondary profession, since this profession calls for a lot of leather and hide. If you don’t opt to take Skinning as a secondary profession, you can always buy WoW Gold and purchase the materials you need at the Auction House.
Proficiency
As with all professions, Leatherworking has six proficiency levels, which are listed in the table below. As you increase your character’s level and your Leatherworking skill level, you can increase your Leatherworking Proficiency by visiting a Leatherworking Trainer. While any Leatherworking Trainer in Azeroth can teach you Apprentice to Artisan Leatherworking, you can only learn Master Leatherworking in Outland or Northrend, and Grand Master Leatherworking in Northrend.
Training costs WoW Gold, and the prices differ depending on whether you chose Leatherworking as your Primary or Secondary profession.

Leatherworking Specialization
Leatherworkers may choose to take up a Specialization upon reaching character level 40 and Leatherworking skill level 200. Taking a Specialization in Leatherworking will grant you access to higher level plans for armor or weapons that are normally not accessible to non-specialized Leatherworkers.
There are three available specializations to choose from: Elemental, Dragonscale, and Tribal Leatherworking. In order to specialize in any of them, you have to talk to the appropriate NPC and complete the quests they give you.
Elemental Leatherworking
Elemental Leatherworking allows you to create leather armor with Stamina and/or Agility bonuses.
Visit Brumn Winterhoof at Arathi Highlands (Horde) or Sarah Tanner in Searing Gorge (Alliance), and accept the “Elemental Leatherworking” quest. This will require you to bring him/her 2 Heart of Fire, 2 Globe of Water, 2 Core of Earth, and 2 Breath of Wind. You can acquire these items by killing elementals or infernals (Fire elementals for Heart of Fire, Water elementals for Globe of Water, and so on), but the drop rate is pretty low. If you’re having a hard time getting the items, check your realm’s Auction House to see if anyone has the items up for sale. Once you’ve brought the items back to the NPC, you’ll become an Elemental Leatherworker.
Dragonscale Leatherworking
Dragonscale Leatherworking allows you to craft mail armor with Stamina and Intellect bonuses, as well increases in spells’ critical hits and spell damage for caster Shamans or additional critical hit rate bonuses for Hunters.
Go to Thorkaf Dragoneye at Badlands (Horde) or Peter Galen in Azshara (Alliance) and accept the “Dragonscale Leatherworking” quest. The quest will require you to turn in 2 Tough Scorpid Breastplate, 2 Tough Scorpid Gloves, and 10 Worn Dragonscales. You can find Worn Dragonscales by skinning various dragonkin mobs all over Azeroth. The other items have to be crafted, and the table below will tell you where to get the pattern and what you need to make the items.
|

2 Tough Scorpid Breastplate |

24 Thick Leather 24 Scorpid Scale 8 Silken Thread |
|
2 Tough Scorpid Gloves |

12 Thick Leather 16 Scorpid Scale 4 Silken Thread |
Tribal Leatherworking
Tribal Leatherworking enables you to create leather armor with Stamina, Intellect, and Spirit bonuses, which is most useful for Druids.
Before you do the actual quest for Tribal Leatherworking, you have to complete the Wild Leather quest chain.
Go to Jangdor Swiftstrider at Camp Mojache (Horde) or Pratt McGruben at Feathermoon Stronghold (Alliance) and accept the “Wild Leather Helmet” quest to start the Wild Leather quest chain. You’ Below is a table that shows which quests you need to do, what items you need to turn in, and what materials you will need.
All the quests in the Wild Leather quest chain (except the last one) will require you to turn in some Wildvine. Assuming that you took up Skinning as a secondary profession, you can buy the Wildvine at the Auction House, or you can kill the trolls in The Hinterlands or Stranglethorn Vale since they occasionally drop it.

|
After completing the above quests, Jangdor or Pratt will give you a letter that you have to present to either Una at Thunderbluff (Horde) or Telonis at Darnassus (Alliance). |
||
|
Master of Wild Leather |
You don’t have to craft anything for this quest; just turn in your letter. |
|
Once you’ve completed the Wild Leather quest chain, go to Se’Jib in Stranglethorn Vale (Horde) or Caryssia Moonhunter in Feralas (Alliance) to accept the “Tribal Leatherworking” quest. You will be required to turn in 1 Wild Leather Vest and 1 Wild Leather Helmet. Once you’ve done that, you’ll become a Tribal Leatherworker.
If at any time you feel like switching your specialization, go back to the Leatherworking trainer who trained you in your specialization and pay a fee depending on your level.
