(September 8th for current and returning players)

LOTRO Free-to-Play Head start, September 8th

Current Subscribers and returning players will be able to access LOTRO Free-to-Play on the North American servers starting September 8th! The servers will be brought down on September 7th in preparation for the head start program. When they return on September 8th all current subscribers and returning customers will have full access to all Free-to-play features, the Volume III, Book 2 epic story, and the new Enedwaith region two full days before the official launch! You’ll also be the first gain access to our new servers and claim your name or start building your new kinship.

If you’re a returning customer, make sure you have your client installed and ready to patch up on September 8th so you can be among the first to experience LOTRO Free-to-Play. You can download the most recent LOTRO game client here.

View the official discussion thread for more information about Head start or to share your thoughts.

Existing and returning players will be given access to the LOTRO Free to Play head start on September 8th. We’ll also be extending the Head start offering to include Beta Participants and their accounts. Beta Participants will not have characters, Turbine Points, or any other progress earned during beta, transfered to the live server.

Who qualifies for Head start:

  • Current subscribers/players (anyone who has an active subscription as of Sept. 7th.)
  • Former Subscribers.
  • Anyone who has purchased Shadows of Angmar, Mines of Moria, or Siege of Mirkwood products.
  • LOTRO F2P Beta participants (must have logged into and played the beta version of LOTRO F2P Beta prior to the close of beta)

We look forward to seeing you on September 8th!

Patching will not be available until the game is available again. So not on the 7th.

On September 8th, the game is made available to those matching the descriptions in the original post. EVERYTHING is part of head start. So you can use the store.

On September 10th the game is open to everyone and anyone who wishes to play.

We will not be allowing existing characters to move to the new servers.

There is no retroactive (Turbine) points granted for deeds completed prior to free to play launch. However, there are NEW Deeds in the V3B2 update that are based on your reputation with various factions. These NEW Deeds will offer Turbine Points upon completion. Any player who has met the reputation requirements for these NEW deeds will have the deeds autocomplete and any rewards, including Turbine Points, automatically granted to their accounts.

All VIP points are granted within 2 days of the monthly anniversary/payment for all players. For monthly subscribers, this is within 2 days of the payment. For all multi-month (including Lifetime) subscribers, this is within 2 days of the monthly anniversary. Points are always granted after the payment or anniversary.

So if you have a 3 month subscription plan, and you were last billed on 8/15, you’ll receive monthly VIP points within 2 days of the 15th of each month while you are active. (September 15th, October 15th, etc).

All of the loyalty rewards should be in your account within a week after launch. They may not show up on the same day for everyone because there are a lot of accounts to process.
