In Runes of Magic, there is a tip which will allow you to gain more gold then if you merely level grind and collect items and vendor or AH them.  In RoM, there are 3 gathering skills, much like in WoW.  However in RoM, there is woodcutting, herbalism, and mining.  Unlike WoW, you can have all 3 gathering professions, and the gatherable items all show on the minimap.  So the tip is to get all 3 gathering professions, but not bother with the primary professions like Alchemy and Blacksmithing.  Simply gather all you can, as you fight, and then sell them on the AH.

Keep in mind when you list the items on the AH, that it will list a low ball rate as the bid amount.  What I like to do, is look at the price to sell to a vendor for (by hovering over the item), multiplying by the amount in the stack, adding the AH fees, and doubling that amount.  For example if I had 54 Tin Ore, and the cost were 4g each, then I would take 4×54 to get 216.  Add the AH fees, say 73g to get 289g. Now double that, to 596.  Thats my base price.  Now for a buyout, I add a zero at the end, which makes bid 596, buyout 5960 gold.

Now I know you might see some items much more expensive on the AH, but I am not trying to rape the person buying my wares, in fact all I am trying to do is get it sold, and make at minimum 2x, what I can vendor it for.  If I can get 20x with buyout (rape), then thats even better.  But if you have to keep relisting, then you are losing the listing fees as well.
