While the website doesn’t say it, the newsletter and the forums, does mention the beginning of closed testing.
Also, thats really good advice, if you want to get in. Register for the newsletter and on the forums and start posting a bit each day. Try not to just be a fanboi or only talk in non SWTOR forums. You want to try to establish yourself as someone who can help troubleshoot. So read the bug forums, and if you see something which could be a problem with a driver – like glitchy grafix tell peeps to update their drivers or to check the settings in the game. Even a wrong, basic answer can help you get into beta.

there is a thread saying there were 1.5 million people registered for trying to get into 1000-2000 beta spots how those numbers were gotten, I don’t know but it matched the over all forum tone that very few people were going to get an invite
