Pre-order Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Diablo III, or World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and support us. We make 4% of each order.

In Final Fantasy XI (FFXI), Alchemists are able to create medicines, potions, enhanced weapons, and Ninjutsu tools through combining different materials and crystals. With over 350 different recipes, Alchemy is the largest among the available crafts, and as such has a large amount of sources for materials.

A lot of Alchemy supplies can be purchased from guild merchant or from other players for FFXI Gil, so you might want to buy FFXI Gil to ensure that you have enough funds for your crafting materials.

Alchemy Ranks and Tests

To become an alchemist, go to the upper level of the primary Alchemist’s Guild in the Bastok Mines and speak to Guildmaster Abd-al-Raziq. You will then become an Alchemist with the rank Amateur.

To advance your rank as an alchemist, you have to speak to Abd-al-Raziq and complete the tests he gives you. These tests will require you to craft specific items.

As with all the crafts, there are 9 ranks in Alchemy. Below is a table listing the ranks, what skill level you need to be at to take your next test, and what item you need to craft (ingredients for the items can be found in the Recipes section of this guide). Continue reading »

In World of Warcraft, the Alchemy profession enables players to create potions, elixirs, oil, flasks, and cauldrons from various herbs and reagents. Items produced from Alchemy have a variety of effects, ranging from healing to elemental resistance and more.

Given that Alchemy uses a lot of herbs, it’s recommended that aspiring Alchemists take up Herbalism as a secondary profession. This makes it easier to obtain herbs on your own as opposed to having to purchase them for WoW Gold from other players.

Proficiency

As with all professions, Alchemy has six proficiency levels, which are listed in the table below. As you increase your character’s level and your Alchemy skill level, you can increase your Alchemy Proficiency by visiting an Alchemy Trainer. While any Alchemy Trainer in Azeroth can teach you Apprentice to Artisan Alchemy, you can only learn Master Alchemy in Outland or Northrend, and Grand Master Alchemy in Northrend.

Training costs WoW Gold, and the prices differ depending on whether you chose Alchemy as your Primary or Secondary profession.

Mixology

At skill level 50, Alchemists acquire the passive ability, Mixology. This ability doubles the duration of any flask or elixir that the Alchemist created and consumed himself/herself. It also increases the effect of the flask/elixir slightly, and this increase varies per item. Continue reading »

Aion’s Alchemy crafting skill is all about mixing reagents and making magical potions, scrolls, mana stones and other alchemical items. These items are especially useful at higher levels and can save you a great deal of Aion Kinah. You can also sell these at the auction house for profit. All classes can benefit from Alchemy so if you like making potions, take this skill. Just a word of advice – leveling up your Alchemy skill can take huge amounts of Aion Kinah and can cost anything from 3,500 Kinah up to more than 100,000 Kinah at higher levels, not including the cost of failed crafts and reagents.

AoC AlchemyIn Age of Conan (AoC), Alchemists are trained in various metallurgical & pharmaceutical arts, using a variety of ingredients to create different items that can be used both in and out of battle.

While some Alchemy supplies can be purchased from trade merchants, AoC Gold must be found through various sources within the game. The most common sources of Alchemy ingredients are the Alchemist’s Caches dropped by casting mobs in the game.

Recipes

Below is a table of Alchemy recipes available in AoC. Note that any instance of the words Gold, Silver, Copper, or Tin refer to the trade resource materials that can be harvested from ore veins and not Continue reading »

This profession is a highly popular choice with beginning players. There are dozens of herbs to farm from and players can often find them just about anywhere. The only problem of course is that the nodes can be just about anywhere, meaning that defining a clear path to get them is hard. While mining nodes tend to hug the mountains and thus the outside edges of most zones, herbalism nodes can appear anywhere you find grass, and sometimes not even that much.

Getting started with Herbalism is even easier than mining and skinning as well. All you need to do is find an herbalism trainer and start gathering. You don’t need a special knife or pick to do it and you will be given a “find herbs” ability to use in the field (though I recommend you download a more advanced GUI to uncover your nodes).

Basic Information
Use the following information in this Herbalism Power leveling Guide as a basis for your decision whether to choose Herbalism as your primary profession. Additional money making tips for this profession are available below as well.

Recommended Profession to Pair With:

  • Alchemy (for materials)
  • Skinning (for gold)

Herbalism has much fewer options in terms of your second profession. It is generally agreed that if you choose Herbalism you will also select Alchemy down the line. However, for those only seeking to make gold, you can pair your Herbalism up with Skinning or even Mining to collect even more materials even faster.
