Instead of giving you a whole write up of how to make gold on your server – everyone has those, I wanted to mention a few auction house tips that will largely improve your game.
First, instead of using Auctioneer, use Auction Master. Both have similar functions, but Auction Master will do an item search whenever you list an item. This way you know what the prices are now, not what the average or mean price is. Also it will do a quick and dirty search to see if items are worth buying or bidding on, to resell to a vendor. Last, it has the same functionality with other plugins, that use the tracked data, to maximize your profits.
Next, when you buy of the AH (this goes for all games), and you are leveling a skill, but the items over time. Don’t go and buyout the AH, and then start asking for people to sell it to you – or worse come back the next day to get more of the items. We always want to leave a few stacks up, of the items we are buying. This will keep the prices normalized. If you instead buy everything out, then the prices will shoot higher, because there is no competition. Also, if you buy out the AH, then even over the trade channel, no one will have an average or undercut price to go buy, in order to sell you their wares. Instead, it’s better to not buy anything off the AH, and then ask for the items, in bulk off the trade channel, for less then the AH price.
When selling items on the AH, things get a bit trickier. It helps to know the items we are listing, and also the chances are that it will sell. In order to maximize profits, it’s a better idea to sell items in 24 hours, then 48 hours. We lessen the amount of time, it also lessens the deposit amount, which we could lose if it doesn’t sell. It also takes away the chances that your item(s) will be underbid. We also should know what an item is commonly used for. For example enchanting mats, are best sold in stacks of 4, 5,6, or 8 – as these are the common sizes for enchanting materials. Now, if you had a daily quest item, for something like cooking, and you know that the amount of an item needed is 4, then sell in stacks of 4. Another fine example are flasks, elixirs, and potions. Sell potions in 5 per stack, and flasks and elixirs in 1-2 per stack. This will increase your chances of selling the items – especially right before a raid. Remember that most raids tend to happen at night. So put them up for 12 hour listings, starting in the early afternoon.
Also, remember that the neutral AH, charges a higher deposit. The deposit is based on the sale price to a vendor. So the best things to list up here, without losing the deposit, are undervalued items, or items which have no value, like Abyss Crystals. Of course if you have them, you can also list cross-faction items, such as pets. White Kittens sell great with Taurens. However, it’s not a good idea to overload the neutral AH with them. It’s better to in fact just sell 1-2 of each.
Here’s a guide which will tell you the cut and deposits from listing items on the AH as well as the neutral AH.

Remember, if an item doesn’t sell, then you lose the deposit. This can be killer on the Neutral AH.
