Fayth, over at TeamLiquid.net, is giving away $2000 to the first person to get the Solo Zen Master title… with some rules of course. The first and foremost, is that it needs to be done within 6 months, thats basically 22 wins per day. While possible, it’s going to be a grind fest. On the other hand, whoever does win, is truly going to be a master at the game, and will then be able to play more tournaments, for more money, right? Continue reading »

This isn’t our give away, but it’s definitely news worthy.  Spugnort’s is giving away a copy of Starcraft 2, all you need to do, is follow them on either Twitter of Facebook, for your chance to win.  Now considering Spugnort’s probably has maybe 1k followers (some of them following on both, because you get 2x chances to win), the odds of winning, are pretty good, in comparison to other giveaways these days.

Win a Copy of StarCraft 2 : Wings of Liberty

How to Win:

Simply follow Spugnort’s Facebook or Twitter and on Tuesday, July 27th (Starcraft 2 Release) at 12:00 PM PST we will announce the winner on our blog and facebook!

Rules:

No purchase necessary, we will draw a name from every Facebook and Twitter fan. Follow us on both to have a better chance at winning.

Winner will be notified via private message or email. If winner does not respond within 48 hours we will draw a new name until it is claimed.

It came to my attention the other day, that not everyone knows this little trick. And I call it a noob trick, because if you aren’t a noob, or using this on a new account, then it will be somewhat useless to you. We actually use this in our powerleveling, to level old accounts up.  This trick will allow you to have 10 days free, each time you add an expansion.   Continue reading »

If I wasn’t totally in love with the simplicity of the Windows Vista start menu, I would install this free today, Aston Start Menu software.  It replaces your start menu, and allows you to skin it using one of the many available, plus use internal widgets on it.  By now however, you might be wondering why I am posting this here? Well, as I was browsing through the available skins off the website (which you get full access to), I found a few skins that our readers might find interesting.

This one is called Star Blaze II

Gaming is an expensive past time. Between games and hardware, gamers can quickly find themselves short for cash when their catalog of games has long become stale. What can be done for entertainment when this happens? Before you start selling unnecessary body parts and bodily fluids, perhaps you should try the vast, untamed world of free gaming. While there are some stinkers out there, there is also many great games you may have overlooked simply because of the stigma of free gaming. While this list cannot possibility hope to even scratch the surface of quality free to play games that are out there, I do hope to be able to highlight many of the high points in this area of gaming.

America’s Army

Genre: On-Line First Person Shooter

http://www.americasarmy.com/

Part recruiting poster and part FPS, America’s Army is one of the two realistic shooters to make this list. Designed to be used as a recruiting tool for the US Military, this game can be enjoyed by fans of on-line shooters from any country. The only shortcoming of this game is that it requires you to go though boot camp before enjoying the game. But, if you can tough it out, then you are in for a real treat of a free shooter.

Anarchy Online

Genre: MMORPG

http://www.anarchy-online.com

Not only does Anarchy Online offer a free to play option, supported by ads, it is also one of the longest running MMOs that is not set in the fantasy genre. As a long time MMORPG player, I can attest to just how happy I am to see a game that isn’t swords and sorcery survive for this long. If you are looking for a different MMO and you are willing to take on the steeper difficulty curve, you will be pleasantly surprised by Anarchy Online. Continue reading »

In case you don’t read the comments, I am reposting this in the form of a post, for information on Mumbles, a chat software similar to Teamspeak, Ventrillo, and RogerWilco.  Mumble, is an open source VOIP program, which will allow you to chat with your clan, guild, alliance, or even family members.

It’s fairly easy to setup.  When you first run it, it will run a sound check.  Which will help you to set up the software to your liking, volume, and listening preferences.  Once setup, you can connect to the chat software or get a host.  Now the title mentions a free 50 slot chat server, and you can get that over at UKGame.

To set up, simply make an account.  Go ahead and set a password on the server.  It can be something easy, like “mumbles2″ or your guild name.

They will send a confirmation email, which will have your server IP and port #.

Use that to make a new connection with mumbles.

First it will deny access, due to a certificate warning.  Go ahead an accept it anyways.  If you don’t get this warning, just skip ahead to the next step.

Then it will deny access, and ask for a password. Enter your server password.

This should connect you to your server, where you and 49 of your closest friends can chat for free.

If you want to access the SuperUser account, you will need to login, as “SuperUser”.  The password is the password, which you made to login to the site, not the server password. If you login under any other name, then you will not be able to use the SuperUser commands.

You CAN run 2 instances of Mumble, one with SuperUser, and one with your normal login.  However there’s a trick to it.

It’s known that Aion is actively searching for bot users, and that if the bot you are using, happens to be on a process list, then using that process will get you banned.  However, this bot changes the process name, and as long as you bot safely (don’t show off, don’t tell your friends), then your account should be fine.

One of the nice things about the bot – besides being free, is that it is constantly updated.  Each and every patch, each and every bug, it’s patched.  In any case, while the bot is free to use, only our members can see the actual download location and support forums.

Maestro and Tr3s Luna may be the most unusual games out there. Some have compared them to Myst… The games were created and programed by Mike Oldfield with a small staff. Mike Oldfield is the composer/multi-instrumentalist [aprox 30 instruments at Tubular Bells and close to 60 for Amarok] of Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Omnadawn and other music.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Oldfield

His early success with Tubular Bells in 1973 gave him the financial freedom to pursue using computers in the recording process and making videos (himself) his love of making and flying model airplanes led to his getting fixed wing and rotary wing pilots licenses…

I read that Mike invested 25 million in the development of Tr3s Lunas and Maestro to build the virtual world HE wanted to explore.  The games were originally released with music; one disc music one disc game, then were downloadable for a fee, but now are free.

Just for a short clip of his musicianship and the inane questions asked by TV interviewers…

A workaround for playing Starcraft 2 beta offline vs AI has been found! Looks like someone was able to find a way to patch the Starcraft 2 beta maps with different AI settings, not sure if HARD is really that challenging though, it’s rare for a beta client to contain a complex AI since the goal of Starcraft 2 beta is to have the beta testers play against each other. Whats better then having a bot that player for you? A bot that plays for you, and doesn’t cost you any money!  This bot will read memory, but not write to it.  The benefit of this kind of bot, is it is less detectable then a bot which injects code.  Reading memory, allows you to set up custom waypoints as well.

So I was searching for places to advertise rpg-exploiters… strangely, I came across a online poker site that advertised free to play, and win real money.  So, I decided to check it out.  Now the strange part comes in.  There are Evony ads on the site on a rotating banner, they are flash of course… but they have scantily clad women.  Now, I have played Evony, and no where, not even in chat do we ever see scantily attired women.  We don’t even get avatars or even small icons, that could allude to sex… and let me set this forward… this ad was selling sex… but on Evony?  If you actually look at the ads, there isn’t even a message about what the game is about.

On a side note, I wanted to share some enlightening information… Evony cost less then $10k to create.  I myself spent around $20 on it.  I figure, if I like a game, I can spend money, but I try not to exceed $20 a month…  I played for about a month so the amount I spent, wasn’t bad.  I did get into the intrigue, learned some interesting lessons. I spied, infiltrated, had a bit of fun and laughs, and more… but the thing is, I thought $20 was a lot… I recently spoke with a guy I know, who admitted to spending over $200 on it… o.O   I suppose we each put value where we enjoy things in life.  I just wish I had more disposable income, that I could throw that kind of money around and not flinch.

Anyways, if you have the time, check out the poker site.  You might even see me online playing (be merciful).  And if you make money, give me 20%, k? :D

If you are into crafting, and you want to hit 450, as quick and as cheap as possible, then there are 3 resources I recommend.  2 of them are websites, and the 3rd is an addon, that works well, in game.

WoW-Professions and WoWGuideOnline are pretty much the same thing, with little difference, except for the layout of the actual guides.  I have used Penn’s Ultimate Profession Guide as well, but it’s pretty much a regurgitation of the free guides – or maybe they are regurgitation’s of his guide, I am not 100% sure either way.

The other way I recommend, is with an addon, and it’s pretty much just a guide on what to craft, and how many items you will need, but there are no wowhead links, so if you want further information, you will need to look it up in your browser. WoW Professional, is really my choice to use, since it’s all in game.

A couple other addons I have found to be very helpful, especially when trying to get all the recipes are Ackis Recipe List, and Recipe Radar.  Ackis Recipe List, is great when you are doing research and trying to figure out whether or not you have any more recipes you need to learn, or where to go to get all the recipes.  Recipe Radar works similar in that it will tell you when a recipe is nearby, that can be bought, from whatever zone you are hunting in.  If you use it in conjunction with an auction program, you can see how much money you could make, if u resell the recipe.
