Great news has come down the pipes! News we have been waiting for for a long time has finally arrived that Space is Confirmed to be in development for Star Wars The Old Republic. Once again Sean Dahlberg gets to bust the news wide open in his thread here from the official forums:
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=3645409#edit3645409
First, thank you to all of you who participated in our Comic-Con Reveal mission! While we didn’t quite make the numbers, we definitely saw how excited the community is about this and how everyone came together. After all of that, there’s no way we could hold back with our special reveal at Comic-Con!
If you’ve been following the news coming out of the Star Wars The Old Republic panel at Comic-Con International, you’ve heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience! But what does that mean? Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various “hot spots” on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles.
To learn more, pick up the October 2010 edition of PC Gamer which hits newsstands starting August 17th for screenshots and an exclusive interview or check back with us in the weeks to come.
This is outstanding news for all of us who enjoy space combat and hopefully things like asteroid harvesting and so on. This is one of the things that I had told myself I would enjoy the game much more so if it were in place. Slowly my hopes are being realized….

With Turbine recently being bought out by Warner Brothers you would think that, besides making LOTRO free2play, they would set their sight on also making Asheron’s Call free2play. Alas, it is not so. It seems instead that they have chosen to upgrade it a bit, to try to make it more appealing to more players. One of the things they are doing is to upgrade textures (which some players from the Ac-Emu team did themselves, several years ago). You can see some of the before and after screenshots here.
They are also adding more playable races. The first I want to mention, are the shadow people, you can “shed your skin” and play one of these new characters.
The Shadows are here! Shadows are now a playable race! You can choose from two different races of Shadow. Find out more about how this all came to be by reading a special backstory written by former AC Dev Orion, and can check out the lore and the Teaser Video here
or read more here.
Sadly, the video for the above, makes me want to steer clear of the game even more. Seems to be the kind of video I would make – and I admit it, I am terrible at making vids.

On the 16th of July, they came out with their latest in the developer dispatch series. I know its a few days old, but it’s too good to miss! This week’s dispatch focuses on the music and sounds of SWTOR. From the post made on the official forums by Sean Dhalberg:
“The emotional experience of Star Wars™ comes to life in new music created exclusively for The Old Republic™. From soft melodies that ring in the forest of Alderaan to the magnificent booming of a battle scene on Ord Mantell, a talented team of composers, musicians and developers came together to create a magical score for the game.
Watch Developer Dispatch: http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/music-old-republic to see what goes into weaving the familiar Star Wars riffs with a new original score. And learn how music impacts the thrilling moments in video games as well as movies.”
I just watched it and I must say wow! Take a look and tell me what you think.

Multiplayer Combat Video Released
If I didn’t see it with my own eyes I probably would write it all off as a joke, however after watching the video it totally dawned on me that SWtOR was in fact a multiplayer game! /endsarcasm.
But jokes aside this is the first actual multiplayer combat video of SWtOR that has been released and it’s flippin flappin amazing, right off the bat you’re introduced to all 4 classes while they do their special emotes and have their roles described.
First you have the Trooper who is so badass that he tanks with a giant shotgun; next is the Smuggler who apparently has a lot of spare money and is classified as sort of a support damage class; next is the Jedi Knight (drool) which is classified as pretty heavy melee dps; and lastly is the Jedi Consular who is described by this sentence “If she lets the trooper die, everyone is done for” which I’m going to assume makes her the healer.
I’d try my best to explain the battle but it’s all a haze, the only thing I remember is me staring as the screen with my jaw dropped, I don’t think I blinked for about 30 minutes after I watched it.
After watching this video it pretty much made up my mind which game I’m going to be playing for the new few years, I’m just happy to see that the majority of people were wrong when they were saying that the game is too “cartoony”, personally I think the cell shaded look of it is pretty awesome.
Enough jibba jabba, follow the link!
SWtOR Not Coming to Consoles Anytime Soon
Don’t kill the messenger, remember I just gave you guys an awesome SWtOR multiplayer combat video..
SWtOR isn’t coming to consoles! Alas there’s no hope of smuggling pink lightsabers on your PS3 or Rogaine made for Wookiees on your XBOX360.
So what does this mean? Probably nothing, if you’re reading this you most likely have a computer and play an MMO and thats the audience SWtOR is targeting. It does mean a potentially smaller player base. I was a big FFXI player/fan I always found it somehow satisfying that I could connect with the console gamer in me, while still keeping a firm grasp on my MMO addiction!
The main thing I hope is that if, er, (crosses fingers, toes and ears) WHEN the game is a huge success, that Bioware may reconsider their decision so I can lay on my couch eating popcorn and kill me some Gormaks..

The Tournament & Events System
What are Tournaments & events?
Tournaments & Events are new community features coming to LOTRO this fall. Similar to a public quest system or challenge system. Tournaments will offer a variety of events and competitions for those who wish to participate. Players who participate in Tournaments may win community renown, badges for display on player profile pages at mylotro.com, or even in-game items, gold, or Skirmish Marks!
How Do I Join?
Keep an eye on mylotro.com/tournaments for a list of upcoming events along with the information you’ll need to participate. Every event will have at least one round with a start and end time, along with an activity that players must complete to qualify for the round. Once the event begins, simply do the action required and we’ll automatically enter your character in the event – there’s nothing else you need to do.

Anonprofiles.com is up and working. We have secured it, to make it work better. Anyone can make an anonymous profile, but you need to be registered to make a full profile, with pets, mounts, bank items, gold, etc. We also save your profile in our database. This means that a year from now, your character will still be in our database, when it’s gone from the other anonymous profile site. Additionally, if an image is not available from our own images, we will pull one from elsewhere and then host it locally. The benefit to the new system, is that having all images served locally will increase the loading speed.

The Dwarves of Thorin’s Halls are well prepared for the rigourous Keg-races that will take place this summer in Frerin’s Court. Star Trek Online Season 2.0
Some very cool changes and updates coming for ST:O.
I guess to me leveling has always been the biggest thing and the most fun part of ST:O so the news that the level cap is being raised is 51 is most excellent. Along with new Captain Powers, Rank 5 Ship Rewards, Mark XI Gear and so much more, I can’t wait for Season 2.0 to come out this July!
Another very important feature to 99.99999% of the Star Trek Online player base is the incoming ship’s interiors, yeah you heard me right, no more lame parties on the bridge! Now we get to have a blast in our ships, finally, while playing some Dabo with our Holo Leeta Dabo Girl. Continue reading »

PC Gamer was given access to the full list of cash shop items in the upcoming free-to-play version of Lord of the Rings Online. In addition to the usual cosmetic upgrades and XP boosts, LOTRO will be offering a few more unique purchases, such as unlocking additional auction house slots. Here are full details on three examples of cash shop items we saw during our E3 demo. Keep in mind that this is a beta and the prices are subject to change. You may have seen Graythandor’s post with what he has ferreted out of posts made by the Devs concerning what is upcoming for Lotro. Graythandor’s What’s coming? Here’s what we know from it:
OK, so here’s what we know for sure (i.e. confirmed by a dev or the community team):
There will be an announcement soon, potentially at E3 (June 15-17)
http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php?p=4658401&postcount=226
Fair enough. You guys know we’re preparing an announcement. I can’t give you a specific date as to when we’ll make it, but I can say I just ran into Adam Mersky coming out of an E3 planning meeting and he was pretty stoked!
Turbine will be presenting at E3 under the Warner Brothers banner
http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php?p=4660739&postcount=27
Correct – we’ll be there as part of the Warner Bros. family.
We will get new icons for something at some point.
http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php?p=4658437&postcount=234
Actually, I can confirm that right now. There will be new icons!
(I can’t wait for them to be cut and have everyone yell at me for promising them!)
Fear debuffs will no longer invisibly stack in the next update.

There are just a couple things I wanted to mention for our Blizzard players.
Blizzcon 2010
First Blizzcon tickets are going on sale on June 2 AND June 5, 2010. The convention itself, will again be held in Anaheim, on October 22 and 23, 2010. Tickets will again be $150 each, however I am not sure the price is warranted this year, as the only additional thing they are throwing in, is a comedy performance. However unannounced, was the possibility for what the grab bag will be this year. Last year, they gave a murloc marine pet for WoW, an authenticator, an art book, and a 7 inch tall figurine made of plastic, plus some other junk and coupons… Plus of course you got to seen an outdated rock star perform on stage (Ozzie Osborne), who would probably play in Vegas for free at their outdoor arenas. Overall not really any good prizes. Continue reading »

I have added the star rating back into posts, hopefully it won’t mess with the subscriptions again, however if it does, I will go ahead and remove them again.
I also added the bookmark share info back into posts. It’s my hope that you will share this site with other people on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and other social bookmarking sites.
After a couple complaints, I have also removed the script which asks you to post a comment. However comments are always welcome, so please feel free to share your views with us.
