Pre-order Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Diablo III, or World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and support us. We make 4% of each order.

One of the most interesting things about tribble breeding is that every tribble subspecies carries the DNA for all other subspecies. Which traits dominate is determined by how they are raised. Thus with proper care, one can obtain any type of tribble from any other tribble within a few generations.

The most important factor in determining a tribble’s characteristics is food. In general, a tribble of any given type will produce a specific type of offspring based on the food it is given, as shown in the table below. However, environmental factors, particularly overcrowding, can lead to different results. We have observed all of the following on our farm:

  • Tribbles refusing to eat
  • Tribbles eating but not producing offspring
  • Tribbles eating entire stacks of food and producing a variety of offspring
  • (Unconfirmed) Random mutations Continue reading »

You like the mission, it was easy, and you decided you want to do it again, but don’t want to wait for the timer again, which could take 5 minutes… or worse could only have a few people, thus making the chance of completion worse.  Here’s how to finish the group mission without waiting for that timer… or to find a group big enough to complete it.

I don’t know about you, but I hate having to do a mission over, if I screw something up, or die prematurely.  This is a way, within StarTrek Online, which will allow you a much better chance at surviving, when you go down to a planet to do a mission.

If you send your ground forces ahead of you, they will fight a lot longer then you might be able to. So send them into the foray first, and when they are all dead, then go in and fight. You will notice that your own forces seem to be able to take a lot more damage then you. It’s a good way to ensure that you complete the mission, any mission.

When you’re in a battle, the last thing you want to keep doing is to balance your shields… but its a necessary evil. So, for that matter, is firing your weapons.  This is an AutoIt macro that will do both of these things for you, automatically.

Whether you are in a combat situation on the ground or in space, and your shields are down to nothing, you know you can’t get them back in time, your health is low, you’re about to die… what do you do?

Do you run for cover, restart the mission, die?

How about none of the above? Just switch out your shields.  Assuming of course you have an extra shield in your inventory, anyways.  Suddenly with a despawn in sight, it becomes a fight worth continuing… or running away with out dying anyways.

This isn’t really classified as an exploit or cheat, but rather a tip, as this is allowed.

This is for the ground fighters out there.  You can quickly hit your enemies with 2 AOEs, simply by switching weapons in the middle of a fight.  Doing so is an awesome way to deal with your enemies.  Switch weapons, then blast away.  After you use the second AOE attack, go ahead and switch again, waiting for the cooldown.  When it hits, rinse and repeat.

If you are having trouble finding where to go when doing planet mission, there is an easy solution, rather then running everywhere, not knowing what you are looking for.  Look for the red dots on the map, these are mobs which will usually be guarding, what you need to get.  You will still need to comb the area on the map for whatever the objective is, but in this case, you can do wider sweeps and do zig-zag types of patterns.

When playing StarTrek Online (STO), and you are on a mission occasionally, something will mess up and make it difficult or impossible to finish.  in this case, simply beam back to the ship and then beam back to the surface. You will only be resetting that portion of the mission, so if you are on part 3, then only part 3 will be reset.

While you may think you won’t need to reset a mission, unless you die, that’s not entirely true.  I was running a planet mission in the Delta Quardrant, on a planet, when all 4 of my away party disappeared.  Some ran away (cowards).  Some of them simply went invisible and were no longer able to be clicked on.  So I beamed to the ship, reset, beamed back down and continued on the mission.

Ok, so I decided to fly down to a planet (Earth).  It was going ok, a bit shakey… couldn’t get all the way down.  But then I decided to go back to the Starbase, and found the bug.  Haha, you can’t get back.  You actually get stuck.  Of course the simple /stuck command will get you unstuck.  But it makes me wonder what else we will be able to use it to do.  I suppose it will come down to experimentation, to figure out a way to use it to our advantage.

You couldn’t use it to get out of a fight, but you might be able to drive an enemy into the planet if a group of you were all firing at a ship, possible herd it there?

I know this sounds stupid to most people, but it’s something I have learned over playing many many games… read the manual first.  The manual will give you a quick overview, and you won’t waste time in game, asking people how to do this or that. I recently tried out a 10 day trial of Fallen Earth, and having read the manual, I didn’t waste the average of 3 days most people lose in the beginning of play, to keep asking the same stupid question, like “how do I open my pack” or “how do I reload my weapon”. Not only will you save the time, not asking stupid questions, but normally, you also speed by other levelers because you know the basic information that they couldn’t be bothered with, because they wanted to jump right in.

The StarTrek Online Manual, is worth a read, even though the information is available online – I prefer hard copies, but thats just me.

If you want to play StarTrek Online, you can buy StarTrek Online key from Shattered Crystal and download the game directly from StarTrek site.

As many of you already know, Star Trek Online was recently launched.  If you are one who likes to explore, then this is the information you need (and the program), to open the archives and see whats in them.

Textures are in a format called WTEX.  .WTEX files are really just .DDS files with an additional header. If you edit the file and delete everything prior to the characters ‘DDS |’ then they will open in any program that can edit DDS files (Photoshop, etc).

Sounds, you may need to mess with your settings a little bit, but further instructions are available… This content is for members only.
