I don’t usually feature gold guides on this site, but after I looked this one over, I knew I wanted to put this one up.  The reason I don’t like putting the guides up? Simply put, they are all out of date. They talk about this strategy or that, and quote old addons which aren’t even kept up anymore. The authors put them up, and let them go.  A perfect example, is Warcraft Millionaire.  This is a really old gold guide, last updated in early 2009. Luke’s and Valkors, are even older then that.  Hayden Hawke’s Secret Gold Guide however, was written in 2010 with the 3.3 patch in mind, and is very recent.

Hayden Hawke's Secret Gold Guide

  • How to find all the HOT DEALS on the Auction House that others don’t know about (I find it funny that most people think they know how to use the Auction House, but once you read my guide, you will be ABSOLUTELY AMAZED at what you didn’t know).
  • How to get money for your mounts, whether you’re 20, 40, 60, 70, or 80 and getting a regular land or epic flying mount. What I reveal to you in this guide will always leave you with plenty of gold to buy your mounts (no more hitchhiking).
  • The best zones and instances to make up to 1,000 gold an hour!
  • Common gold making mistakes other players make and how to avoid them (some of these are really common sense but people still do them for some reason).
  • The hottest selling items for each profession and how to make tons of gold off these items whether you crafted them or not!
  • The best places to mine, herb, and skin. I’m not going to lie to you, this comes with full routes and detailed instructions. You will MAKE gold using them.
  • How to use addons to make gold farming easier (no these aren’t hacks they are Blizzard Approved addons that most players don’t even know exist)!
  • Unique ways to make gold that other players don’t even realize exist.
  • How to identify the next hottest items and have them up for sale in the Auction House before anyone else even thinks about it!
  • Ways to manipulate the Auction House so the items you sell, ALWAYS SELL, and for the PRICE you choose!
  • How to make TONS of gold off any profession, no matter which ones you have! (yes a lot of people aren’t even using their profession they already have to make a TON of gold because they don’t know how. I’ll tell you exactly how in my guide!
  • How to make hundreds of gold while helping other players at the same time you are farming!
  • Know which daily quests are worth doing, what ones aren’t, and learn what order you should do them in to maximize your gold!
  • How to quickly identify which items are worth farming and the absolute best places to find them!
  • And MUCH, MUCH, MORE! So much more, that if I put it all in this box you’d still be here reading it tomorrow.

The best way to get this guide, is to buy Hayden Hawke’s Secret Gold Guide, which will allow you to get free updates. I highly recommend this!

Old Ironforge
Map: 0 -4821 -975 464
– Notes: This place isn’t very big, and is most likely suited for a boss lair or some sort of mall. Keep in mind, if players fall down, they need a way to get up.

Elwynn Falls
Map: 0 -8322 -340 145
– Notes: This seems to be a closed area of Elwynn Forest, and may be used for general stuffs such as mobs and quests, as in, general leveling.

Northern Plaguelands
Map: 0 3852 -3565 45
– Notes: This is the area surrounded by the Plagueland areas. It’s completely empty, and has one damn annoying fog, so it could be used for some scary outdoor boss raid, I guess.

Graymane Area
Map: 0 -979 1579 52
– Notes: This is the awesome area past the big annoying gate in Silverpine Forest. If you can find a neat way to get here, it would probably be good for some sort of city.

Isolated Dun Morogh
Map: 0 -4897 836 390
– Notes: As Cursed mentioned, this area would be good for a linear instance. It’s very open, and as far as I know, normally inaccessible from the outside. Not instanced, though.

Arathi Highlands Farm
Map: 0 -1817 -4205 3
– Notes: Not much to say. I’d probably use it for some sort of secret hideout, as it’s a nice little isolated place.

Isolated Wetlands Town

– Notes: This place is awesome! You can have your own little closed town here. Only thing is, you need to close that tunnel leading to nothing.

– Notes: Just another isolated location in Azeroth. Continue reading »

In World of Warcraft, the Leatherworking profession enables players to forge various weapons, armor, and other items using metals, minerals, and other materials.

It’s recommended that aspiring Leatherworkers take up Skinning as a secondary profession, since this profession calls for a lot of leather and hide. If you don’t opt to take Skinning as a secondary profession, you can always buy WoW Gold and purchase the materials you need at the Auction House.

Proficiency

As with all professions, Leatherworking has six proficiency levels, which are listed in the table below. As you increase your character’s level and your Leatherworking skill level, you can increase your Leatherworking Proficiency by visiting a Leatherworking Trainer. While any Leatherworking Trainer in Azeroth can teach you Apprentice to Artisan Leatherworking, you can only learn Master Leatherworking in Outland or Northrend, and Grand Master Leatherworking in Northrend.

Training costs WoW Gold, and the prices differ depending on whether you chose Leatherworking as your Primary or Secondary profession. Continue reading »

p>In World of Warcraft, the Mining profession enables players gather ore from specific ore veins scattered all over the world. These ores can be smelted into bars, which can then be used in certain crafting professions like Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting, so it’s convenient to pair Mining with any of those three professions.

Note that even when paired with Mining, you may need additional funds for the other materials required for Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting, so you might want to buy WoW Gold.

As with all professions, Mining has six proficiency levels, which are listed in the table below. Inscription goes well with Herbalism, since you can use Milling (a skill that comes with Inscription) to break herbs down into pigments you can use. You might need to buy WoW Gold to ensure that you have enough funds to buy your materials at the Auction House if you opt not to take Herbalism.

Part 2 of Cataclysm Overview

Written by Stuart Kerley. Edited by Stuart Davidson, of GamingHeaven

In our first blog about Cataclysm we provided an overview of WoW and took a look at some of the new features we can expect from the expansion. In this entry we’ll be taking a closer look at the new races that will be made available to play in Cataclysm, the Worgen and the Goblins. We’ll look at what these new races bring to their respective factions (Alliance and Horde) and the how Blizzards are introducing these races to us in their starting area storylines.

>>Warning – this article contains spoilers about the Worgen and Goblin starting zones. For anyone just wanting the basics, please do not click on the Spoiler tags.<<

Worgen you doing here?
For the Alliance the new race being made available in Cataclysm is the Worgen, or the Humans of Gilneas if you like. For those unfamiliar with the game, let us take a stroll down lore crescent.

The kingdom of Gilneas was formed following the disillusion of the empire of Arathor and is ruled by the House of Greymane. While the Gilneas supported the Alliance during the Second War, Genn Greymane was never a strong supporter of the Alliance and believed, perhaps foolishly, that his armies were strong enough to deal with any threat on their own.

Following the end of the Second War Genn decided that he’d had enough of the Alliance and pulled all his forces back to his kingdom, sealing it off from the rest of Azeroth by creating the Greymane Wall. No one was allowed to enter, and no one had heard anything from Gilneas, even during the Third War against the Burning Legion… until now.

With the sundering of Azeroth following Deathwing’s ascent in Cataclysm, the Greymane Wall is breached, opening up this area to the rest of the world and bringing the Worgen and their kingdom into the game.

The Worgen race will allow Alliance players the ability to create a new beastly class. While the Horde have always had the Tauren, the Alliance haven’t really had access to a non humanoid race (though we can argue about whether the Draenei are humanoid or not) so this alone is a change to the main mechanic. The class choices available for the Worgen are Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warlock and Druid. Death Knight is also currently available in the beta however it’s unclear if we’ll be able to create a Worgen Death Knight at the launch of Cataclysm.

As befits a race infected with lycanthropy the Worgen actually have two forms, something else brand new for a WoW race. When out of combat a Worgen can be in either human or Worgen form, a choice we can make ourselves. However when in combat the animal within is unleashed and the character is transformed into Worgen form.

Goblin Theft Auto
Cataclysm delivers the first ‘small’ race for the Horde, the Goblins. While the Alliance has always had Dwarfs and Gnomes the Horde have traditionally been a race of giants.

The Goblins have been part of WoW since its launch however they’ve always been a non player class. A tinkerer race, Goblins have provided the steampunk element to WoW with their mad inventions and machines, never willing to join either the Alliance or Horde, they have only ever been interested in turning a profit.

New players choosing Goblins will be able to select a class from Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage and Warlock. As with Worgen the Death Knight class is also currently available in the beta.

>>> Show ▼

Summary
Both the Worgen and Goblin starting zones are excellent and really show the lessons Blizzard have learned about questing and game immersion. Varied types of quests are provided, giving new players a solid grounding in the play style of, not only their class, but of WoW in general.

The storylines are gripping to say the least, especially when we consider that by the end of the above sections we have only experienced 5hrs of gameplay reaching level 10 or so. The darkness of the Worgen zone is contrasted with the humour and fun of the Goblin zone. Both have a sense of urgency and keep us wanting to take the next quest to find out what happens next. The visual design of the zones are quite distinctive, with Gilneas resembling 19th Century London and Kezan resembling Las Vegas merged with the slums of Bombay. Then when the floods start and the volcanoes begin to erupt Blizzard has made excellent use of their terrain phasing technology, completely changing the world around us as the story evolves.

New WoW players are certainly in for a treat when they start a Worgen or Goblin, and returning players will have a starting experience unlike any they’ve seen before in WoW.

As Blizzard have been able to deliver such a high level of quest immersion and superb quality in these starting areas for the new races, we can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the new zones for the level 80 to 85 levelling race.

Next time…
We’ll take a look at some of the new zones available in the beta and touch on what the new talent tree design will mean for WoW players.

Part 1 of Cataclysm Overview

Written by Stuart Kerley. Edited by Stuart Davidson, of GamingHeaven

For those of you that haven’t read my posts on the StarCraft 2 beta I should begin by being completely honest with you, I love Blizzard games. This love affair started with the Warcraft RTS games and when World of Warcraft was launched, oh boy, was I hooked.

I’ve played WoW since the open US beta in the autum of 2004. I even went as far as playing on the US realms, before they launched in Europe in 2005. I’ve played on PVP (Player vs Player) realms and PVE (Player vs Environment) realms. I’ve raided all the end game dungeons from Molten Core to Icecrown Citadel. I currently have 5 level 80 characters (Druid, Priest, Mage, Hunter and Death Knight) and I’m working on my 6th (Shaman, currently level 71).

When GamingHeaven was fortunate enough to be given a beta key from Blizzard for the new WoW expansion I jumped at the chance to get a sneak peak at what Blizzard have in store for us. Future blogs will cover our experience in the latest incarnation of WoW… for now, let’s discuss what WoW actually is and take a look at what new features Cataclysm holds…

This is a little trick thought up by dazzidrood, which will allow you to cast 2 Swarm spells on someone. It’s more a trick then anything else, because the person being hit by the swarm, will only receive damage from the rank 7 version of it, not the rank 6.  However perhaps, if each rank of swarm are cast on the person, then if they dispell one, the other may still work?

We know that the higher rank will affect the person in question, not the lower rank… but questions remain. If the rank 7 is dispelled, will the Rank 6 then do damage? Can we hit them with more ranks, thus making 1 much more difficult to dispell?

Your input is appreciated, to let us know whether or not this is good in PvP situations.

In today’s economy, it’s hard to fork over $180 a year to play games.  Even harder, when you consider that you also have to purchase the game for another $75 with expansions. So I began searching for alternatives.  I of course found Runes of Magic, and am playing it now.  But I also found another solution.

I found this server, and was speaking to the owner about his plans to soon add Cataclysm support.  I was a bit impressed with his straight forwardness, and his ability to add features to the game, to make it more fun.  His server by the way is a “fun server”. This means that the exp rate and the drop rates, tend to be higher then in the official servers.  This will allow you to level more quickly, to get better loot, and to possibly run 5 man dungeons, by your self… sort of. Keep reading to see what I mean by that ;-) Continue reading »

We take a look at all of the Defense-oriented stats and attributes found in World of Warcraft. Find out how much Defense or Resilience it takes to become immune to critical hits, or whether your tank should be stacking Dodge or Parry. We cover every defensive stat to the fullest.

Defense

Defense is used by tanks of all classes but DruidsDefense is a tanking stat designed to give tanks of all classes the things they need to avoid and survive physical hits. It has many functions. Each point of Defense skill (not rating) adds a .04% chance to be missed by the target, and to dodge, block, and parry – meaning for every 25 Defense skill you have you increase the miss rate of your opponent by 1% and give yourself a 1% each chance to dodge, block, and parry an incoming attack. At level 80, it takes 4.92 Defense Rating to make 1 Defense Skill.

Beyond that, Defense also reduces a tank’s chance to be critically hit, and if he stacks enough Defense he can become totally uncrittable. At level 80 a Defense skill of 540 is required to eliminate your chance to be critically hit by any mob or raid boss. For Heroic level dungeons, a Defense skill of 535 is all that is needed. Raid bosses have a 5.6% chance to critically strike a level 80 player. Druids who take the Survival of the Fittest talent get a 6% chance to not be critically hit, making Bear Tanks naturally crit-immune.

Defense is found on Yellow Gems. Continue reading »

As you most likely already know, I am owner of an account selling site, mmoaccountsales.com.  I recently received some emails from SOE, stating that something new is afoot in Texas.  It seems that Texas has decided to start taxing people’s subscriptions to online games.  This means that any subscription in the state of Texas will be charged a slight fee.  It makes me wonder on which other states or countries will follow, I imagine California, with their financial straits, but I also wonder if it will create a rebellion.  California already taxes items which you receive from other states via online transactions.  What more will follow? in a few years… maybe…

Credit goes to TomRiddle, for pointing out this article by PC Gamer, speaking with Tom Chilton, Lead Designer of WoW.

The rise of the free-to-play western MMO hasn’t gone unnoticed at Blizzard, developers of World of Warcraft, the dominant western subscription MMO. Speaking to PC Gamer at their studios in Irvine, California, World of Warcraft’s lead designer, Tom Chilton, explained that “at some point, it may not make sense for us to have a subscription fee.”

Tom was speaking about the rapid expansion of free-to-play games in the west, and the terms under which Blizzard would consider a similar model for World of Warcraft. In the last year, classic western hardcore online games such as Lord of the Rings Online, Company of Heroes and Dungeons and Dragons Online have all embraced a free-to-play model, where microtransactions and item purchases are a substitute for a traditional subscription fee.

Yet Tom doesn’t think those games have gone free just to compete with World of Warcraft. “I feel like they’re doing that to compete with other games that are on a similar subscriber level to what they were at. I imagine that when one of them went free to play it cannibalized some of the other subscribers. I can definitely imagine that being the case with World of Warcraft. If another game comes along and blows us away it may not make sense for us to have a subscription fee. Or even further down the line, when we have another MMO out.”

While the western view of World of Warcraft is that it’s a subscription-only MMO, the Blizzard team have long experimented with alternates to a traditional subscription to remain competitive in different markets. Multiple micro-transaction items are available to buy for the most committed World of Warcraft players – including shiny star horses, and warrior panda pets. In Korea, the game is sold purely via subscription fee, with no boxed product available. And Korean World of Warcraft subscribers will get to play StarCraft II for free, too. In Russia, StarCraft II is sold in small monthly instalments – a salve to a market where piracy is rampant.

Don’t cancel your subscription just yet though: WoW isn’t going free-to-play in the near term. When asked if Blizzard were actively considering the implications of a free-to-play model, Tom played down the idea of the game switching over right away. “We’re not spending a lot of time thinking about it. It’s not something that’s a reality for us in the near future.”

We’ve got much, much more on World of Warcraft: Cataclysm in the new issue of PC Gamer, on-sale tomorrow. We’ll be posting more Cataclysm news, impressions, and interviews over the coming week.

This guide will teach you how to set up a custom dungon with GM powers on any World of Warcraft emulator. You must be a full fledged GM to do it however, so that you can save your work.

While the best dungons are made if you can script it, and create your own mobs for it, many of us, don’t have that power =P. Often, your local admin will be too busy/lazy to create your custom mobs on your request, and script it. Let alone set it up.

For the best Dungon possible with the GM’s limited powers, it whould be advised to be there and pull the strings as the group of players advance within. The guide has been set up assuming that you would. Continue reading »

If you are new to WoW, then this guide is for you.  If you aren’t new to WoW, and don’t really understand the difference between armor penetration and attack power or strength and agility, then this guide is also for you.

There are lots of different offensive stats in World of Warcraft that effect whether or not you can hit a target, and how hard you hit for. We look at all of these offensive stats including Attack Power, Spell Power, Critical Strike, Hit Rating, Haste Rating, Expertise, Spell and Armor Penetration.

Attack Power

Attack Power is a derivative stat, meaning that most Attack Power is directly derived from Strength or Agility, depending on the class. It is, however, also found as is in high amounts on Leather and Mail armor, as well as “generic” pieces like Rings, Necklaces, Weapons, and Cloaks. Attack Power effects ranged and melee physical damage, and is directly responsible for damage scaling on attacks. Typically, players will prefer the pure stats (Agility and/or Strength) over AP because those stats scale with buffs, like Blessing of Kings. Attack Power is found on red gems.

Armor Penetration

Armor Penetration is a value often found on Leather and Mail gear that gives the player the ability to “pierce” a percentage of the target’s Armor. Armor Penetration Rating converts into Armor Penetration Points at the rate of about 7:1. More important, though, is the amount of Armor Penetration Rating required to ignore 1% of a target’s armor, and that value is 12.31:1. In other words, 12.31 Armor Penetration Rating directly converts into 1% of ignored armor at level 80. Of course, Armor Penetration is only useful for physical damage classes like Rogues, Hunters, DPS Warriors, Death Knights, Paladins, Feral Druids, and Enhancement Shamans. It is less useful for Frost and Unholy Death Knights because much of their damage is magic based, whereas Blood Death Knights need ArP because they’re mostly physical damage. Armor Penetration is found on red gems. Continue reading »
