In Final Fantasy XI (FFXI), Alchemists are able to create medicines, potions, enhanced weapons, and Ninjutsu tools through combining different materials and crystals. With over 350 different recipes, Alchemy is the largest among the available crafts, and as such has a large amount of sources for materials.

A lot of Alchemy supplies can be purchased from guild merchant or from other players for FFXI Gil, so you might want to buy FFXI Gil to ensure that you have enough funds for your crafting materials.

Alchemy Ranks and Tests

To become an alchemist, go to the upper level of the primary Alchemist’s Guild in the Bastok Mines and speak to Guildmaster Abd-al-Raziq. You will then become an Alchemist with the rank Amateur.

To advance your rank as an alchemist, you have to speak to Abd-al-Raziq and complete the tests he gives you. These tests will require you to craft specific items.

As with all the crafts, there are 9 ranks in Alchemy. Below is a table listing the ranks, what skill level you need to be at to take your next test, and what item you need to craft (ingredients for the items can be found in the Recipes section of this guide). Continue reading »

This guide is directed more towards players level 73+, because the monsters that drop Angel Skin are Easy Prey at 75.

Brief description
Angel Skins are a leather craft item that sells at about 1 mil on all servers. A monster that is fished deep in Kuftal Tunnel named Devil Manta drops it, which is around lvl 73. You can fish these up at 0 fishing skill, or at 100; thats the great part about this, fishing skill doesn’t matter. Continue reading »

This exploit, will allow you to use Sandy’s merchant, which sells many goods, without having to pay the Airship fees to ride up. It is a simple use of the game mechanics, which allows you to use the merchant, without paying. So far I’ve only used it to buy eggs for cooking but that merchants sells a lot of stuff, especially if Sandy is in first place.

You must have Al’Tiaeu (sea) access for this to work

If anyone is wondering why you should cap your Divine Magic — ask the BLM that I have out magic bursted on. Yes its rare out MB a BLM with thundaga III but its funny to see their reaction when you do. They usually say something like “resisted” or “someone needs to dispell it” :D I have done over 1100 damage Banish III MB on Light SC on Undead mobs in KRTomb. Have seen 1300+ on weaker mobs. Apollo’s Staff, Clerics Mitts and Korin Obi with capped divine magic do some wonderfull things on Undead ^^

Divine magic also helps out in KRT monk merit pts. Banish lowers undead’s defense and VIT to blunt damage.

This is by far the easiest way I have found to skill up divine magic and enfeebling magic as a whm. You can do it solo and have no problems at all as long as you are careful and watch your surroundings.

Anyone that has been to Al’Tiaeu has most likely saw the lost puppy-dog like Hmpede’s. The look like a gold fish to be simple. These Hmpede’s will aggro you but will not harm you unless you harm them. By harm, I mean you must do damage to them before they will attack you. Continue reading »

Go to whitebone sands to the very top left corner of it, you’ll see 2 main big trees.  Walk under them and they will let you through. Then you will come to a place where you’re stuck between a tree and the wall.

Sometimes it will work – just walk into the water. If it doesnt, turn your camera so it faces your character and lower it all the way to the ground. Now you should be able to walk in.

This might work for PC users, but has not been tested.  Can someone test it please?

On average, I’ll make about 75-100k for 3-4 hours of farming a night right now. The reason why I’m able to do this, is because I’m able to see what things sell well at the AH and find the places where I can get it. Having a melee job with a decently leveled THF as a subjob can make a huge difference between getting good drops, to decent drops, to hardly any drops. At level 15, THF will have two helpful things: Gilfinder and Treasure Hunter. Treasure Hunter is good because it increases the chances that normal items from mobs will drop as you farm. I don’t think that it really helps much with NM drops, but I’m not an expert on that so take what I say about that with a grain of salt. At lower levels, odds are your THF will either be too low for a subjob or hardly leveled at all for a main job. Some people will level up THF to 15 for the traits I listed above. But if you’re a melee (WAR or MNK), THF is great for farming. Just remember to change your subjob before you go out for exp parties though. No one likes a gimpy subjob.

One important thing you need is a good system that works for you. I pretty much farm Monday-Thursday and I try to party/do quests and missions Friday-Sunday. I know people who party Monday-Friday and strictly farm on the weekend. But depending on your lvl and job (and also your server) the amount of gil you make can vary as does the schedule that feels the best for you.

So here are a few suggestions based on my experience so far.

This is a mini-guide based primarily off of my game experience, from farming at early levels to my current level. I will give a little history as to why I needed a lot of gil so many of you won’t think that I’m a greedy little *^%$. Most of what I’m writing isn’t a secret nor is it path to guaranteed gillions. All it is, is a small guide on how-to make some decent gil early on.

First and foremost, my main job is MNK. Despite what people may think or say, the MNK job is the MOST EXPENSIVE job to gear, especially from lvls 34-40. When I was going through those levels, Ochiudo Kote (level 34) were going for 800-1000k gil, Mthr. Knuckles +1 (level 3 50k, sniper rings (level 40) were around 500k and woodsman rings (level 40) were around 450k. Brown Belt (level 40) was stable at 500k and Jujitsu Gi (level 40) was going for over 300k at the time. And this is gear that you can equip up to level 40. So if I wanted to be a decent MNK, I knew what type of gear I needed to get. So here are my strategies for getting gil and all of these items before I even reached level 40.

Remember, these prices at the AH can change and primarily come from the Jeuno AH prices, so I’m using what I’ve seen today at the AH for the basis of what to look forward to when selling these items for gil. Please remember that some items for sale in Jeuno can be more or less, but not a huge difference. We’re talking mostly farmed items here, not endgame drops.
